David R Roberts was born and brought up in Stafford. He endured, rather than enjoyed, his time as a pupil at King Edward VI Grammar School and worked for a time for Staffordshire County Council. He gave up his job to become a student at Loughborough University where he gained a first class honours degree in History and Sociology. Postgraduate studies at two more universities and a career as a lecturer in further and higher education followed.
David has written and edited a number of best-selling college textbooks and is a Member of the Society of Authors. His interests now lie in exploring the links between national/global and local/family histories and in helping to make the study of history as accessible and enjoyable as possible. He lives near Norwich but likes to spend time in his native county whenever he gets the chance.
